Garment Sizing

Measurements are taken across the front of the garment while laid flat. Double to find total circumference of garment and if in doubt measure a garment you own that fits well and compare. If you’ve never measured a garment or yourself before, we have a guide under “Whats my size?” above.

We are SO excited about our best selling shape in our knitwear family, the Primrose Cropped Cardigan! If you’re looking for the perfect 100% merino winter cardigan that is a snuggly, dressy, and the most wonderful cropped length, then look no further!

This 100% mercerised merino wool cardigan is knitted locally by our very special knitter who we have worked with for over 10 years! Knitting locally is something we are passionate about and also allows us to pick and choose our own colours! The mercerisation of the merino cleverly means there will be minimal pilling and that the fibres will last longer and not get fuzzy after a few wears. We have also picked some of our favourite fabrics for the covered buttons, with each cardigan having a perfect match chosen for it. And of course, we get all the buttons made locally in Sydney too!

FEATURES:

  • 100% mercerised Merino wool
  • Yarn is hand picked and hand dyed, making all colours exclusive to Made590
  • Primrose is a cropped length hits below the waistline.
  • Perfect paired with waisted dresses
  • Ribbed waistband is designed to pull the bottom in slightly and make a lovely silhouette.
  • Textured knit gives this cardigan a lovely warm look without being too bulky.
  • Wooden Daisy buttons
  • Turn under front bind (this is a new style of finish we are so happy with!) which is streamline at the front so the knit pattern goes to the edge and is reinforced at the back with merino knit binding

WEAR IT WITH:

  • Our Edie dress is the perfect base layer under these cardigans, and she also looks great with Petra Pinafore.
  • Primrose is a lovely shorter length to work with higher waisted pants and longer skirts like Gillian.

This 100% Australian mercerised merino wool jumper is knitted locally by our very special knitter who we have worked with for over 10 years! Designed and Made in Sydney, Australia. We use local makers we have worked one on one with for many years. All knitwear is locally knitted by one of the last knitters in Australia!

Wooden daisy buttons.

This technique uses multiple colours to create a mixed thread to knit with, it isn't the same as Marle Wool which is one colour with mixed colours on the wool. This means there are mixed patterns on each garment, and sometimes even each piece of the garment.

The variegation comes from where the thread falls in the knit, sometimes the darker colour will sit at the front and sometimes to the back ( or underside) creating texture and colour within the knit pattern.

These Marbled pieces will each be completely different to the next. The pattern is varied in the ribbed edges as well as each panel sewn together for each knit. The cardigan inner bind and neck binding on the jumpers is knitted from a solid colour giving great contrast on the inside.

100% Australian mercerised merino wool

This 100% mercerised merino wool is super special so we want to explain the difference you will feel when purchasing our knits compared to others you may own!

Mercerised merino is SUPER soft and silky, it hardly feels like wool. It is made this way to feel and drape like silk yarn does. It undergoes a chemical process when the wool soaked to remove the tiny itchy fibres called "scales", and when spun into yarn the thread is coated in a silicon like material which smooths and polishes the thread into a luxurious yarn. This yarn is then dyed to our colour specifications and knitted into our beautiful garments by our local (Sydney) knitted Bill.

CARE: We recommend treating your cardigans as carefully as possible, to allow you to wear them for years to come. We wash ours only when really needed, as wool is a very breathable and resilient fibre. To wash place your cardigan in a delicates bag, wash only with mild wool wash detergent, on a delicates cycle. Alternatively a soft hand wash using wool detergent will keep your cardigan looking even better for longer. Never wring, rub or bleach your cardigan.

COLD WATER WASH ONLY.

Reshape when wet and allow to dry laying flat in shade. Do not wash with anything that might rub or create pulls in the wool. If you do snag your cardigan on something, pull the thread gently to the inside of your cardigan and NEVER cut the threads, this will unravel the knit and create a hole. Wash at the end of the season (to avoid moth damage, they like to eat the dirty bits of wool!) and store your cardigan with cedar balls when not being worn, as moths find these 100% wool cardigans very tasty!

Standard fit, lots of stretch in this knit texture, will give over time and come back to shape in the wash. Please note high level of veriegation in this knit so each panel may not match exactly. See photos as they form part of the listing.
